Ute Steves, our School Principal, joined VWGS in 2012, initially as a teacher before taking on the additional roles of Exam Coordinator and School Principal. She brings over 30 years of teaching experience in German as a Foreign Language (DaF), German as a Second Language (DaZ), and ESL, gained in both Canada and Germany.

Her qualifications include Examiner Certification for the German Language Diploma (DSD I and II), International Teacher and Teacher Trainer Certification in ESL, as well as Canadian TESL and IELTS certifications. In addition to her role at VWGS, she serves as the Lead of the Language Department at a settlement organization on the North Shore.

Ute is also actively involved in the German language education community, volunteering as Treasurer on the Boards of Directors of both the BC Council of Teachers of German (BCCTG) and the German Council Pacific Coast (GCPC).
